S. Kidman & Co employs staff in a diverse range of positions across its 14 cattle properties and Feedlot operation. The Head office is based in Adelaide with our stations located in rural Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Our Feedlot is located at Sedan, South Australia.

Opportunities for employment on our properties may arise throughout the course of the season, which generally runs from mid February to December each year. Positions that may become available include:

Bore Mechanic/Bore Runner (Immediate Commencement) - Naryilco

Naryilco Station, situated in South West Queensland, 110km north of Tibooburra, is seeking an experienced Bore Mechanic/Bore Runner.

Reporting to the Station Manager, you will be required to service, maintain and repair solar pumps and solar submersibles, and other general bore pumping equipment. Other duties include trough and fencing repairs and vehicle and workshop maintenance.

Sound mechanical knowledge of motors and pumps is required, along with a strong regard for workplace health and safety.

Applicants must have good communication skills, be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised. An HR Licence and skills in machinery operation are desirable.

Quality a/c single room accommodation is available, and all meals provided.

Bore Runner (Immediate Commencement) - Helen Springs

We are seeking a full-time, experienced Bore Runner for Helen Springs Station, located 140km north of Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory.

Reporting to the Station Manager, the Bore Runner is required to check station water points and maintain water facilities and pipelines. Other duties include trough and fencing repairs and vehicle and workshop maintenance. Sound mechanical knowledge of Kubota motors and pumps is required, along with a strong regard for workplace health and safety.

Applicants must have good communication skills, be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised.

Bore Runner (February Commencement) - Ruby Plains
Ruby Plains Station is seeking an experienced Bore Runner for commencement in February. The station is situated 50km south of Halls Creek in the East Kimberley of Western Australia.

Reporting to the Station Manager, the key requirements of the position includes:
  • The ability to perform under limited supervision;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Sound mechanical knowledge of motors, pumps and windmills;
  • Maintaining and servicing of equipment under direct control;
  • Proficient in maintaining adequate water levels for stock;
  • Ensuring stock have clean water at all times (e.g. clean troughs etc);
  • Maintaining fences around watering points;
  • Taking instruction from senior staff;
  • Observing and reporting on any abnormalities associated with the role (e.g. sick cattle, vehicle movements etc);
  • Willing to work unsocial hours when required;
  • Flexible to move into other work areas or perform tasks unrelated to bores if required.

Gardener/Handyperson (Immediate Commencement) - Ruby Plains
Ruby Plains Station, located 50 km south of Halls Creek in the East Kimberley of Western Australia, is seeking a full-time Gardener/Handyperson to commence mid-November.

Duties include maintaining large, well established station gardens and the general upkeep, tidiness and maintenance of the station's buildings and facilities.

Successful applicants must:
  • Have practical experience in gardening activities, including planting, pruning, trimming, weeding, fertilising, mulching, mowing and watering
  • Have good communication, organisational and time management skills
  • Be self-motivated and able to work autonomously or as part of a team
  • Have a strong commitment to workplace health and safety
  • Hold a current Driver’s licence
  • Have Chemical Users Accreditation (desirable).
An appreciation for remote rural living is recommended.

Station Cook (Immediate Commencement) - Ruby Plains
We are seeking a full-time, experienced Station Cook for Ruby Plains Station. The position is available for immediate commencement.

Ruby Plains is located in the East Kimberley of WA, 50km south of Halls Creek.

The successful applicant will need to be capable of carrying out the following duties:
  • Planning menus;
  • Ordering supplies;
  • Preparing tasty, nutritious meals for up to 20 people;
  • Maintaining the kitchen, dining room and food storage areas in a clean, tidy and hygienic state and;
  • Other domestic type duties as required.
Basic cooking skills and excellent standards of hygiene and cleanliness are essential. An appreciation for remote rural living is recommended.

Quality single room accommodation is available and all meals are provided.
