S. Kidman & Co employs staff in a diverse range of positions across its 14 cattle properties and Feedlot operation. The Head office is based in Adelaide with our stations located in rural Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and the Northern Territory. Our Feedlot is located at Sedan, South Australia.

Opportunities for employment on our properties may arise throughout the course of the season, which generally runs from mid February to December each year. Positions that may become available include:

Bore Runner - Naryilco
Naryilco Station is seeking an experienced Bore Runner for immediate commencement. The station is located in South West Queensland, 110 km north of Tibooburra, NSW.

Reporting to the Station Manager, the key requirements of the position includes:
  • The ability to perform under limited supervision;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Sound mechanical knowledge of motors, pumps and windmills;
  • Maintaining and servicing of equipment under direct control;
  • Proficient in maintaining adequate water levels for stock;
  • Ensuring stock have clean water at all times (e.g. clean troughs etc);
  • Maintaining fences around watering points;
  • Taking instruction from senior staff;
  • Observing and reporting on any abnormalities associated with the role (e.g. sick cattle, vehicle movements etc);
  • Willing to work unsocial hours when required;
  • Flexible to move into other work areas or perform tasks unrelated to bores if required.

Station Hand (Immediate Commencement) - Innamincka
An immediate start is available for an experienced Station Hand to join the team at Innamincka Station, situated in the far north east corner of South Australia (approx. 35km from the Queensland border).

To be considered for this position, applicants will need to have previous experience with all aspects of Station Hand duties including:
  • movement, handling and monitoring of cattle;
  • use of horses and bikes;
  • general station maintenance and repairs - including fencing & welding;
  • vehicle & machinery operation and maintenance; and
  • land management.
A Class C Drivers licence, experience riding horses and handling cattle in a calm and controlled manner, along with a strong commitment to workplace safety and animal welfare is required. A Motorbike licence is preferred or be willing to obtain.

Stud Overseer - Rockybank
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Stud Overseer for Rockybank Station, situated 40 km south of Roma. Rockybank runs a stud herd of 2,000 females and produces 450 bulls per year for Kidman’s breeder properties.

Reporting to the Station Manager, key responsibilities include:
  • Supervising and undertaking effective and timely herd management;
  • Assisting with feeding cattle for bull selection and AI programs;
  • Recording stock numbers and paddock movements of a DNA verified Breedplan recorded herd;
  • General maintenance of vehicles, machinery, water systems, fencing and yards.
The successful applicant will possess the following skills and attributes:
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills;
  • Experience handling cattle in a quiet and controlled manner;
  • Competent in the use of horses and motorbikes;
  • Prior stud cattle breeding experience is preferred but not essential;
  • Conversant with AI programs;
  • Ability to understand & follow set feed rations and to adjust rations as needed;
  • Good attention to detail with sound computer literacy skills. Experience using electronic stock recording systems is an advantage;
  • Strong commitment to workplace health & safety;
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work unsupervised.
  • Heavy Rigid Licence and Motorbike Licence.
